    INTERIM DIRECTOR

    Sheryl Hauk is a retired music educator with an impressive 41-year teaching career. She served as the Choral Director and AP Music Theory Director at West Bloomfield High School and Oakland Early College and was the Fine Arts Coordinator for the West Bloomfield and Madison School Districts.

    Sheryl pursued her studies under Dr. Robert Young at Baylor University, earning her undergraduate degree, and continued her master’s education at Marygrove College and Oakland University, studying with Dr. Michael Mitchella and Dr. Jackie Wiggins.

    As a versatile music professional, Sheryl has been a guest conductor, clinician, and performer. Her choirs have achieved prestigious recognition, performing at venues and events across the United States, including the Michigan and Hawaii State Capitols, Pearl Harbor, New York City, Carnegie Hall alongside Dr. Nina Nash and Eric Whitacre, the Michigan Music Conference Specialty Choir (2018 & 2019), and Disney Jazz Festivals. Her ensembles have also collaborated with renowned groups like Gold Company and earned distinctions such as leading the All-State Jazz Choir at the Michigan Youth Arts Festival (2014–2016). Most recently, her choir, Laker Express, performed at the 2024 MSVMA All-State Gala.

    Beyond her work as an educator, Sheryl has served as an adjudicator for the National Piano Guild, Tuesday Musicals, and MSVMA. Her dedication to music education has been widely recognized—she was an MSVMA Emeritus Lifetime Achievement (2025), LifeChanger of the Year nominee (2018–19), and a Grammy Teacher of the Year Quarterfinalist (2018).

    Sheryl's passion for music and her unwavering commitment to her students have left an enduring legacy in the world of choral music.

  • MIN SOOK

    ACCOMPANIST

    Playing piano and organ had been an important part of Min’s life since she was six years old. She majored in organ performance at Yeon-Sei University in Seoul, South Korea. From 1985 to 1990, she accompanied the World Vision Korea Children’s Choir.

    In 1990, Min visited the United States for the first time and played at Carnegie Hall as an organist when her Young-Nak Presbyterian Church from Seoul had a concert tour in North America. In 1997, she won 3rd place in an organ playing competition at the 37th Annual Conference on Organ Music, held at the University of Michigan School of Music.

    Currently, Min is an organist/pianist at First United Methodist Church in Warren.
